The last few faces in my 2019 faces sketchbook, now looking for a new project for 2020.
ART, Everything you don't have to do.
A bit of a regular thing for me, taking a day out to go to London and see the BP portrait Awards and the Summer Exhibition at the RA. I will post some stuff from that a bit later.
Lots of super hyper realistic paintings in this years Exhibition, you have to admire the technical ability of the artists, but for me you can’t beat a few obvious brush strokes in a portrait.
You cant go agreeing with the judges and this years winner did not get my vote. But what do I know.
my vote went to…
and my other likes
Great exhibition I always come away with great admiration for the artist and some inspiration to keep having a go at this art stuff.
New year and a new thing to master, if that’s what you can call it.
I have a new Rotaring art pen, takes cartrages of ink (not waterproof), I need to see if I can get other types or refillable ones.
I thought this would be good for my sketching, it makes you think more about your lines there is no going back, when it’s down it’s down.
A few faces from my daily efforts using my new weapon.
Just finished a short term at art class, closing for the summer.
This term we looked at the senses and the parts of the body we use for them ears, noses, eyes, lips and hands looking at the anatomy and how they fit into the face really good stuff, if like me you like faces.
we  made some 3D heads from dough, morphed animals into faces and faces into animals, sketched each others bits and looked at cartoons and how the artist simplify the features to capture expression.
I have planned two final pieces to complete over the summer, one painting which I have posted my sketch here and a set of 5 tarot cards covering each of the five senses and hinting at the sixth.
Thanks for dropping in.
