The last few

The last few faces in my 2019 faces sketchbook, now looking for a new project for 2020.

Sketching faces

Getting close to the last page of my sketchbook of faces.

This little selection are ink, tech pens and biro.

It’s been a great project hoping to fill my book before the end of the year (committed now)

Thanks for visiting.

Teacups

My artclass had a rained off urban sketching lesson,  so we ended up back in the classroom with afternoon tea as a subject.

Not sue if this was going to be my thing but ended up enjoying making a painting even created a darker brio and ink wash drawing.

Rainy days not so bad.

Faces

Still practicing my faces , trying different media and approaches in my sketchbook.

A daily face is a good project even if you don’t get to it everyday  you soon build a sketchbook of ideas.

Satisfying to leaf through it, and see your progress.

Ink

New year and a new thing to master, if that’s what you can call it.

I have a new Rotaring  art pen, takes cartrages of ink (not waterproof), I need to see if I can get other types or refillable ones.

I thought this would be good for my sketching, it makes you think more about your lines there is no going back, when it’s down it’s down.

A few faces from my daily efforts using my new weapon.

Sribblings

A couple of strange scribblings from my sketchbook.

Not sure where these come from, just start with marks on the page made by scribbling or squashed ink and they sort of grow.

Maybe ideas for future paintings.

Skies

This term at my art group we have been looking up at the skies, trying lots of different  media, pastels acrylics watercolour mono printing and lots more.

We started sky diaries looking up everyday from the same viewpoint well worth doing just to appreciate the changing skies.

Pathways

We have come to the end of our art class pathways project, its been another interesting term first looking at perspective line and colour, then looking at maps and aerial views  finished up exploring something alternative.

Working with the idea that the body is  full of pathways, I found some vintage anatomy illustrations  and used these as the starting point for my painting,

Had a go using acrylic inks on paper in a very loose style, with big brushes and many layers, I am pleased with the results and it should create some reactions on the little gallery wall : )

Map

7h

As part of our artclass pathways project we have been looking a maps and as a warm up exercise we took a square of map and extended it. Hoping to improve  on my first attempt I had another go. started by leaving  out the map square but in the end decided to include it.

Small faces

A invite to exhibit really cannot  be passed over, all I had to do was make a postcard size portrait. Everyone who makes a submission is exhibited in the exhibition at southamptons Solent gallery, exhibition opens on the 2nd of March.
