BP Portrait Awards 2019

A bit of a regular thing for me,  taking a day out to go to London and see the BP portrait Awards and the Summer Exhibition at the RA. I will post some  stuff from that a bit later.

Lots of super hyper realistic paintings in this years Exhibition, you have to admire the technical ability of the artists, but for me you can’t beat a few obvious  brush strokes in a portrait.

You cant go agreeing with the judges and this years winner did not get my vote. But what do I know.

Great exhibition I always come away with great admiration for the artist and some inspiration to keep having a go at this art stuff.

BP Portrait Awards 2017

The standard of work in this exhibition is tremendous; I always come away appreciating the skill and talent of the artists. I have taken a few pictures of my favourites to add here.

It is a competitions so you have to select your own favourite, mine was (Rhyming slang for worth nix) by artist Janne kearney

 

 

 

 

 

 

Small faces

A invite to exhibit really cannot  be passed over, all I had to do was make a postcard size portrait. Everyone who makes a submission is exhibited in the exhibition at southamptons Solent gallery, exhibition opens on the 2nd of March.

 

 

Art class on show

Alice’s art class is having an exhibition, going to put some of my work up, please drop in if you are local and want to see what the group get up to .

Scottish National Gallery

Spent some time up in Scotland getting wet and taking in the scenery, we visited Edinburgh and the Scottish National Gallery loads of inspiration there to take away.
